Brief Introduction of the
Huaibei Vocational Technical College
The Huaibei Vocational Technical College, approved by the State Education Ministry in July 1999, is a common full-time state-run higher learning college. According to the functional location of training the highly specialized personnel who have the innovative spirits and practice abilities, spreading science, technology and culture, training all kinds of qualified personnel, promoting the development of the local economy, serving directly for the economy and construction, the college mainly offers the higher professional education, the advanced record of formal schooling education of adult as well as radio-television distant education and employment training. The higher professional educations have departments of humanity science, medical science, finance and economics, computer science and technology, mechanical and electronic project, arts and crafts, etc, offers nearly 20 specialties such as clinical medicine, nursing, applied electronic technology, computer application and maintenance, English, industrial automation, the excavating machinery, mechanical and electronic project, accounting, marketing management and sales, industrial and civil building, secretary and office automation, electronic business, multi-network technology, technological decoration, population and family-planning, physical education, etc, in which the clinical medicine is listed as experimental spatiality.
Located at the south foot of Xiangshan Hill, the college was named as "Garden College" by our provincial government for her quiet and tasteful environment, pleasant scenery and convenient traffic. The campus occupies an area of 629 mu (about 104 hectares) with a fixed assets of 77,200,000 RMB yuan (including apparatus and facilities worth 14,460,000 RMB yuan), a collection of 250,000 books and 500 periodicals of all kinds, around 60 practicing and training bases, 600 sets of computers and it posses the more advanced campus net-work, multi-media classrooms and labs and a 400-metre standard track, 10 standard basketball courts and 7 standard volleyball courts. It owns comparatively good physical facilities. There are 415 staffs in the college, 309 full-time teachers, among whom 115 persons have senior professional titles and 184 have middle ones and 3 persons play leading rules in their specialties. The famous educational specialists in our province, the former headmaster of Huaibei Coal Teacher's College, Mr. Wang Yan-

tan, the chancellor and 28 other famous scholars, specialists, professors from province-run universities and colleges and the local enterprises are invited as the guest professors. Science and technology public lectures and reports are given regularly.
According to the work conception of the Education Ministry "grasping regulations to promote construction, grasping reformation to create characteristics", the college, developing in the reformation, advancing in the adjustment, raising in the management, is striving to establish its own professional features of high quality and high level, well-known brand and social reputation.
